Relationship Manager-SME

Job Purpose

To develop and maintain relationships with SME clients and grow bank revenue by identifying cross-selling opportunities while ensuring clients’ financial needs and goals are effectively met.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth

  • Acquire profitable SME clients to meet sales targets in liabilities and assets
  • Grow and maintain a clean customer database and track performance through regular reports
  • Drive deposit growth and ensure loan accounts are funded
  • Manage assigned credit portfolio and monitor credit quality
  • Review and assess credit applications in line with bank policies
  • Follow up with valuers and insurance agents
  • Prepare memos for excesses, amendments, and exceptions

Relationship Management

  • Analyze clients’ financial health and recommend tailored financial solutions
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies while meeting customer expectations
  • Monitor market trends and provide insights for product development
  • Maintain and grow a strong customer and prospect database
  • Conduct client visits to identify lending opportunities
  • Maximize opportunities within the existing portfolio

Product and Service Offerings

  • Market the bank’s products across various sectors
  • Identify and execute cross-selling opportunities within the client ecosystem

Credit Analysis and Risk Assessment

  • Review and recommend credit applications
  • Monitor credit portfolio performance and quality
  • Evaluate client creditworthiness through financial analysis and risk assessment
  • Initiate and manage recovery actions for non-performing loans

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Commerce, or related field
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage
  • Professional qualifications such as CIMA, CFA, ACCA, or CPA are an added advantage

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a commercial environment
  • At least 2 years as a Relationship Manager
