Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in line with clinical standards and protocols while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Care

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Monitor vital signs and patient progress, reporting abnormalities promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Assist in medical procedures and support doctors during ward rounds.

2. Clinical Duties

• Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
• Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
• Handle emergency situations effectively and provide first aid when required.

3. Patient Support & Education

• Educate patients and families on:
  • Treatment plans
  • Medications
  • Home care practices
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients.
• Promote health awareness and preventive healthcare practices.

4. Collaboration

• Work closely with:
  • Doctors
  • Laboratory staff
  • Pharmacists
  • Other healthcare professionals
• Participate in:
  • Ward rounds
  • Case discussions
  • Shift handovers
• Support multidisciplinary teamwork to improve patient outcomes.

5. Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Adhere to hospital policies, nursing standards, and ethical guidelines.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in:
  • Quality improvement initiatives
  • Clinical audits

Requirements

Education

• Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN preferred) from a reputable institution.

Certification & Licensing

• Must be registered with a valid practicing license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year clinical experience.
• Hospital experience is preferred.
