Job Summary
The Controls and Instrumentation Lead will provide technical guidance on controls and instrumentation design and execution for the refinery, KIP and related facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide input into project scope and FEED deliverables.
- Participate in detailed instrumentation design on P&IDs.
- Review instrument datasheets, instrument indexes, sizing calculations and control narratives.
- Review control system architecture and control panel designs.
- Participate in selection and specification of process instruments.
- Conduct technical evaluations of instrumentation and controls requisitions.
- Support process hazard analysis and safety assessments.
- Provide input into DCS, ESD, valve and SIS configurations.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.
- Prepare and implement equipment inspection and maintenance schedules.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Process Control Engineering.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Registration with UIPE, Engineers Registration Board or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Hands-on DCS and/or PLC experience is essential.
- SCADA and APC experience is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Understanding of health, safety and quality standards.
- Knowledge of process controls and system dynamics.
- Understanding of process plant operations.
- Instrument datasheet and control-system documentation skills.
- Stakeholder management.
- Negotiation.
- Process safety knowledge including HAZOP, LOPA and SIL determination.
