Job Summary

The Refinery Project Specialist will support implementation of frontline activities in refinery projects from planning and construction through commissioning and operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support preparation of the Project Implementation Plan and key project documents.
  • Supervise refinery site activities during planning and construction.
  • Assist in developing annual work plans and project schedules.
  • Support development of project engineering guidelines, specifications, codes and standards.
  • Supervise third-party contractors.
  • Monitor project risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Identify project issues and propose solutions.
  • Prepare project progress reports.
  • Implement environmental, safety and company procedures.
  • Support stakeholder consultations and communications.
  • Respond to project enquiries.
  • Monitor contractor deliverables.
  • Monitor project costs against budget.
  • Verify contractor payment applications against progress.
  • Maintain change logs and cost forecasts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Science Technology Chemistry, Construction Management or Project Management.
  • At least 6 years’ experience delivering capital projects.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent project management certification/course is essential.
  • Oil and gas experience is an added advantage.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, MS Project or similar scheduling software is essential.
