Job Summary

The Graduate Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer will support the design, implementation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems used in oil and gas facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and specification of electrical and instrumentation systems for oil and gas facilities.
  • Assist with Instrument Basis of Design and specifications for DCS, SIS, FGS, MMS and PLC systems.
  • Prepare specifications for cables, junction boxes, terminations and installation works.
  • Support design and implementation of DCS and PLC control systems.
  • Prepare and review data sheets for control valves, safety valves and field instruments.
  • Participate in developing Cause & Effect and Logic diagrams.
  • Assist with technical requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
  • Review vendor documentation.
  • Maintain design and maintenance documentation.
  • Participate in field monitoring of production systems.
  • Support troubleshooting and minor equipment repairs.
  • Provide input on metering design proposals.
  • Assist with work programmes and budgets.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 0–3 years of experience in control systems design and familiarity with DCS and PLC systems.
  • Must have graduated no more than 3 years before publication of the advert.
  • Relevant certification is an added advantage.
  • Membership in relevant oil and gas professional bodies is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design principles.
  • Knowledge of control systems and equipment maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of HSE practices in oil and gas.
