Job Summary
The Petroleum Engineer Specialist will lead planning, design and drilling activities in exploration areas, providing technical expertise to support safe and effective exploration and appraisal well operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare well designs, drilling programmes and well plans.
- Propose well trajectories, completions and perforations.
- Supervise preparation and evaluation of drilling and completion programmes and reports.
- Prepare and evaluate engineering aspects of technical proposals.
- Monitor acquisition and interpretation of engineering data.
- Prepare technical specifications for drilling equipment and services.
- Support development of operational procedures for exploration activities.
- Verify materials and equipment provided for drilling operations.
- Prepare work programmes and budgets for the drilling section.
- Monitor and supervise exploration and appraisal well drilling.
- Participate in meetings with joint venture partners and authorities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Drilling, Petroleum, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing/Production Engineering.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant certification or postgraduate training is an added advantage.
- Membership of professional bodies such as SPE, AAPG or SEG is an added advantage.
- Experience with Petrel, AutoCAD, Eclipse or similar engineering software is an added advantage.
- Project management experience or postgraduate project management training is an added advantage.
