165 Women-Led Enterprises Graduate from Green Business Capacity-Building Programme
A total of 165 women-led enterprises have graduated from a green capacity-building programme jointly supported by GIZ Uganda and the Stanbic Business Incubator, marking another step towards strengthening women-owned businesses and promoting sustainable enterprise development.
The graduates completed a programme designed to equip women entrepreneurs with knowledge and practical skills to integrate environmentally sustainable practices into their businesses while improving their competitiveness and long-term growth.
The initiative brought together women-led enterprises seeking to build stronger businesses while responding to the growing demand for environmentally responsible products and services.
Building Green Businesses
The programme focused on strengthening the capacity of participating enterprises to understand and adopt green business practices, including more efficient use of resources, sustainable production and environmentally conscious approaches to business operations.
For many small and growing enterprises, adopting green practices can help reduce operating costs, improve efficiency and create new opportunities in markets increasingly influenced by sustainability considerations.
Supporting Women Entrepreneurs
The graduation also highlights the growing role of women-led enterprises in Uganda’s private sector.
Through initiatives such as the GIZ Uganda and Stanbic Business Incubator partnership, women entrepreneurs gain access to training, mentorship and business development support that can help them move from small-scale operations to more competitive and sustainable enterprises.
The 165 graduates are now expected to apply the skills gained through the programme to strengthen their businesses, create employment and contribute to Uganda’s transition towards a greener economy.
The programme reflects growing efforts by development partners and financial institutions to support women entrepreneurs while encouraging businesses to adopt sustainable models that can deliver both economic and environmental benefits.
