UETCL invites applications from suitable and eligible candidates for the following position:

Job Title: Design Engineer
Department: Grid Development and Planning Department
Reports to: Senior Design Engineer

Job Purpose

The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and updating engineering drawings for the implementation of the Grid Investment Plan.

Key Result Areas

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

1. Participating in the preparation of short-, medium- and long-term development plans for the transmission network.
2. Preparing electrical designs, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost-benefit analyses and tender documentation/specifications for the design of new transmission lines in accordance with engineering standards and procurement guidelines.
3. Preparing and/or reviewing design calculations, specifications and drawings for transmission lines and substations, in liaison with end-user departments, for upgrades, modifications to the existing grid and renovations.
4. Supporting the identification of optimal substation sites and transmission-line routes.
5. Providing technical support where notifications are required on the transmission grid.
6. Inspecting installations and identifying and correcting discrepancies between as-built drawings and actual installations for works completed by contractors.
