Job Purpose
The Creche Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fund’s crèche by organizing and implementing a stimulating, safe, and nurturing programme of activities for children aged two years and below within a group childcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the overall safety, health, and wellbeing of children in the crèche.
- Provide a caring, stimulating, and supportive environment for children.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote children’s spiritual, physical, cognitive, and character development.
- Prepare and organize crèche rooms before daily activities begin.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the facility.
- Ensure proper maintenance of crèche equipment and learning resources.
- Maintain children’s registration records and individual files.
- Handle all children’s and parents’ information with strict confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with all crèche policies, procedures, and the code of conduct.
- Sterilize toys and play equipment regularly to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Clean and care for children daily as required.
- Keep parents and supervisors informed about children’s wellbeing and development.
- Resolve routine operational issues and escalate matters requiring management attention.
- Prepare budgets for crèche operations and manage petty cash responsibly.
- Coordinate monthly meetings with parents.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports.
- Participate in other Fund activities as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Handling and Care.
Professional training in early childhood handling and care will be an added advantage.
Experience
Applicants must have:
- At least 2 years of experience caring for young children in a preschool, daycare centre, crèche, orphanage, babies’ home, or a similar childcare environment.
- Experience managing crèche equipment and childcare resources.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Supervisory skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of childcare regulations and best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills.
