Sponsor: East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project through EITS Contractors

Purpose

The scholarship aims to support academically outstanding but financially disadvantaged Ugandan students in their final year of study, while promoting national content and building future talent for Uganda’s oil, gas, telecommunications, and technology sectors.

Eligible Programs

Makerere University

  • Bachelor of Computer Science (Final Year)

Kyambogo University

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunication Engineering (Final Year)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Ugandan citizens
  • Be continuing students entering fourth (final) year
  • Have obtained at least a Second Class Upper CGPA in third year
  • Demonstrate genuine financial need
  • Have good disciplinary records
  • Not be beneficiaries of another scholarship

Required Application Documents

  • National ID copy
  • Academic recommendation letter from university staff
  • Academic transcript/results or testimonial
  • Proof of admission/enrollment
  • One-page personal statement explaining:
    • Academic achievements
    • Career aspirations
    • Financial challenges
    • Why you deserve the scholarship
    • How the scholarship will help achieve your goals
  • Updated CV with active telephone contacts and email address

Scholarship Benefits

  • Covers tuition fees only
  • Valid for one academic year
  • No application fee required

Conditions for Retention

Beneficiaries must:

  • Maintain good conduct
  • Remain enrolled in the eligible degree program
  • Continue meeting academic performance requirements
  • Continue demonstrating financial need

Preferred Candidates

The program is likely to favor students who demonstrate:

  • Strong academic excellence
  • Financial hardship
  • Clear career ambitions in technology, engineering, telecommunications, ICT, or related sectors
  • Leadership potential and community impact

Reasons:

Students with a strong CGPA, compelling personal statement, and clear evidence of financial need will have the strongest chance of selection.
