Bank of Uganda Announces Treasury Bond Re-openings
The Bank of Uganda has invited applications for the re-opening of three Uganda Government Treasury Bonds as the government seeks to raise funds through the domestic financial market.
The bonds being re-opened include a 3-year Treasury Bond, a 10-year Treasury Bond and a 20-year Treasury Bond.
The securities are:
- UG12G0607287 — 3-Year Treasury Bond
- UG12K1405378 — 10-Year Treasury Bond
- UG12L1806433 — 20-Year Treasury Bond
According to the Bank of Uganda, all bids from Primary Dealers and other commercial banks must be submitted electronically through the Central Securities Depository (CSD) by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The re-opening of existing Treasury Bonds provides investors with an opportunity to participate in Uganda’s government securities market while giving the government access to domestic financing.
Treasury bonds are longer-term government securities issued to raise funds for government expenditure and other financing requirements. They also provide investors with an avenue to invest in government-backed securities.
The Bank of Uganda has urged eligible market participants to submit their bids within the stipulated deadline and in accordance with the requirements set out in the official notice.
The bond re-openings come as Uganda continues to rely on a combination of domestic and external financing to support government programmes, infrastructure development and other public expenditure.
