France Announces Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2027 for International Graduate Students
Paris – The French government is extending a new round of fully funded scholarships aimed at attracting top international talent to its universities. The 2027 Eiffel Excellence Scholarship, administered through Campus France, will cover tuition and living costs for selected candidates pursuing master’s, engineering or PhD programmes.
Supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the scheme is designed to showcase French higher‑education excellence while addressing skill gaps in sectors such as science, technology, health, engineering, and the social sciences. By bringing in scholars who are likely to join French research labs or multinational firms, the program also serves a strategic economic purpose, reinforcing France’s position as a hub for innovation and cross‑border collaboration.
Applicants must apply through a French higher‑education institution that has been accredited to receive the award. For master’s candidates, the scholarship is limited to those residing outside France at the time of application, whereas doctoral candidates already studying in France may still be considered, though priority remains with non‑resident scholars. The funding package includes a monthly stipend—€1,200 for master’s students and €2,000 for PhD candidates—plus travel allowances, health insurance, and assistance with accommodation.
The duration of the award varies with the level of study: up to 12 months for the second year of a master’s programme, 24 months for the first year, and up to 36 months for engineering degrees. Doctoral scholarships can be granted for 12, 18 or 36 months depending on the enrolment stage. These terms give recipients flexibility to complete their research while integrating into French academic and professional networks.
Prospective scholars are encouraged to begin by contacting Campus France offices or French embassies in their home countries for guidance on eligible institutions and deadlines. Once a university is selected, the school forwards the candidate’s application to Campus France for final review. The official deadline for all submissions is 6 January 2027.
With the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship, France hopes to draw a new generation of researchers and professionals who will contribute to both the academic community and the broader economy, reinforcing the country’s long‑term competitiveness on the global stage.
