The Airtel Africa Foundation is offering 20 full fellowships to exceptional first-year undergraduate students in Uganda pursuing technology and innovation-related programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The fellowship is designed to support talented students from financially constrained backgrounds and provide them with the resources needed to pursue university education in technology-focused fields.

Fellowship Benefits

Eligible Courses

The fellowship is available to students pursuing undergraduate degrees in:

• Information Technology (IT)
• Computer Science
• Software Engineering
• Cyber Security
• Data Science
• Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• Be admitted as a first-year undergraduate student for the 2026/2027 academic year at one of the participating universities.
• Be a Ugandan national.
• Not hold another scholarship, including a Government of Uganda Scholarship.
• Be admitted to an eligible programme at one of the participating universities.
• Be a new entrant admitted to first year for the first time.
• Students repeating first year are not eligible.
• Students transferring from another programme are not eligible.
• Meet the minimum university entry requirements of at least two principal passes at UACE obtained in one sitting.
• Demonstrate the potential to succeed in the selected programme.
• Come from a financially constrained background and demonstrate financial need.

Participating Universities

The fellowship is available to eligible students admitted to the following universities:

1. Makerere University
2. ISBAT University
3. Uganda Christian University
4. Mbarara University of Science & Technology (MUST)
5. Kyambogo University

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is particularly suited to academically promising Ugandan students who have secured admission to an eligible technology-related undergraduate programme but face financial challenges that may make it difficult to complete their university education.
