Job Summary
The Credit Control Manager is responsible for leading the accounts receivable and credit control function to ensure timely collections, minimize credit risk exposure, optimize cash flow, and maintain strong customer relationships. The role ensures effective debtor management, policy compliance, accurate reporting, and continuous process improvement to safeguard the organization’s financial position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Risk Management
- Develop, implement, and enforce credit control policies and procedures.
- Assess customer creditworthiness and approve credit limits and terms.
- Monitor customer exposure and manage credit risk proactively.
- Review accounts for suspension, legal recovery, or write-offs where necessary.
- Manage bad debt provisions and doubtful debt analysis.
2. Collections & Accounts Receivable Management
- Oversee timely collections in line with agreed payment terms.
- Monitor debtor ageing and reduce overdue balances and debtor days.
- Supervise reconciliations, dispute resolution, and payment allocations.
- Negotiate payment plans and recovery strategies with clients.
- Ensure proper processing of credit notes, credit memos, and adjustments.
3. Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare and present periodic reports including:
- Debtor ageing analysis
- Collection performance and efficiency reports
- Debtor days tracking
- Cash flow forecasts
- Risk exposure and bad debt status
- Provide insights and recommendations to management.
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting processes.
4. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise the credit control team.
- Set performance targets and KPIs for collections.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs.
- Promote accountability, professionalism, and high service standards.
5. Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and key accounts.
- Liaise with billing, operations, and finance teams to resolve disputes.
- Support credit-related contract negotiations.
- Handle escalated or sensitive collection issues.
6. Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulations.
- Drive automation and efficiency in receivables management.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Professional Qualification
- ACCA, CPA, or equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3+ years in credit control or accounts receivable.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Business Central or similar).
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of credit risk management.
- Knowledge of collections and debtor management practices.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
