Job Purpose

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability, maximize plant uptime, optimize spare parts management, and support efficient manufacturing operations within the production plant.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance schedules
  • Ensure required tools, manpower, and spare parts are available before maintenance execution
  • Coordinate planned maintenance activities to minimize downtime

Asset Reliability & Plant Availability

  • Support implementation of asset management and reliability strategies
  • Improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned breakdowns
  • Monitor maintenance effectiveness to maximize operational efficiency

Spare Parts & Inventory Management

  • Analyze spare parts consumption trends and repetitive equipment failures
  • Optimize inventory levels while avoiding stock shortages
  • Improve inventory turnover and cost control

Breakdown & Work Order Management

  • Coordinate corrective maintenance activities
  • Raise, track, and close work orders accurately and on time
  • Maintain proper maintenance records and reporting

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives such as:
    • 5 Whys
    • Downtime analysis
    • Failure investigations
  • Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability and efficiency

Engineering Change Control

  • Initiate and monitor engineering changes in maintenance systems
  • Ensure proper documentation and implementation of changes

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with:
    • Food Safety standards (FSSC)
    • EOSH requirements
    • Risk management procedures
  • Promote safe working practices within maintenance operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Process Engineering

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an FMCG environment
  • At least 2 years in manufacturing or maintenance engineering with supervisory exposure
  • Experience using MSD and Microsoft Office
  • Packaging or manufacturing plant experience is an added advantage
