Job Purpose

Old Mutual Uganda is seeking a highly driven Project Management Officer (PMO) to plan, coordinate, and deliver transformational projects.

The role is responsible for managing projects from initiation to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and delivery oversight across cross-functional teams and external partners. The position ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget while supporting business objectives, operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, and long-term commercial value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee projects of varying complexity, scale, and risk to ensure successful delivery within agreed timelines, scope, quality, and budget
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with sponsors and stakeholders
  • Develop and manage project charters, plans, schedules, and governance documentation
  • Establish project KPIs and benefit realization metrics with project sponsors and business leaders
  • Create detailed project designs, work plans, budgets, and resource allocation plans
  • Coordinate and monitor project activities, deliverables, dependencies, and milestones
  • Review project progress and adjust schedules, resources, and delivery approaches as needed
  • Maintain project documentation, templates, reports, and records for governance and audit readiness
  • Establish secure and organized project filing systems
  • Support stakeholder communication and engagement plans alongside Change Management and HR teams
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, technical partners, and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions
  • Prepare and present project status reports highlighting progress, risks, issues, and mitigation plans
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Support change management and operational readiness for successful implementation and user adoption
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, governance frameworks, and project management best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process enhancements

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Expectations

  • Ensure adherence to AML, Compliance, and Sanctions policies and procedures
  • Support customer due diligence and KYC compliance processes
  • Conduct ongoing and enhanced due diligence activities
  • Monitor and escalate potential AML, sanctions, or compliance breaches to the Risk and Compliance Office

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Project Management or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as Agile PM, PMP, Prince2, P3O, MSP, SAFe, or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience, preferably in systems implementation projects
