The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans for the position of Project Support Officer – Communication. The successful candidate will support the promotion of Intellectual Property (IP) awareness, particularly the implementation and popularization of the National Intellectual Property Policy 2019, through effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness initiatives.

Job Purpose

The position is responsible for promoting awareness about Intellectual Property (IP), particularly the popularization of the National Intellectual Property Policy 2019, in an effective and professional manner. The role requires working closely with interdisciplinary teams and key stakeholders in the IP value chain to implement communication strategies that support IP protection and awareness.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and delivery of communication-related training programmes for staff.
  • Collect stakeholder feedback to evaluate communication strategies and recommend improvements.
  • Support the development of communication strategies for crisis management and public concerns.
  • Conduct research on public perceptions, communication trends, and awareness of Intellectual Property.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the IP Office’s brand identity.
  • Monitor media coverage related to Intellectual Property and prepare regular media reports.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, media, and stakeholders on Intellectual Property matters.
  • Facilitate effective internal communication within the organization.
  • Create graphic designs and multimedia content for print and digital platforms.
  • Support the planning and implementation of events, workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with media, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Manage and update the IP Office’s social media platforms.
  • Develop content for the website, newsletters, social media, and press releases.
  • Edit and proofread public relations content.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Registrations Officer.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Mass Communication, Journalism, Communication Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, or any related field from a recognized university or institution.
